Len
Attard's Private Chapel
Len Attard is a barrister who
recently retired as Counsel to the Director of Public Prosecutions, NSW.
He was formerly a Passionist Student (1961 - 1963), spending two years with the
Passionists at the St Ives Monastery, Sydney and one year at Mary's Mount, Goulburn, NSW. Returning to Mary' Mount several
years after the Passionists had left Goulburn, he found the buildings including
the Chapel in a state of disrepair. He duly arranged to purchase the altar and
he and his wife Wendy acquired other items including pews and choir stalls from
the Sisters of Mercy, Potts Point. They have now erected a new Chapel in their garden
(see photograph below) to house the altar which they
have painstakingly restored to its former glory.
