After a rather busy time, Jesus
said to his disciples:
“come away to a quiet place all by yourselves and
rest for a while”.

Almost 2000 years later, Jesus still makes
this call.
Come Away Retreats are
conducted at the Holy Cross Centre
on a monthly basis, mornings and
evenings, and are presented by
Fr
John Curtis CP, Sister Bridget CP and
Sr Margaret McHugh RSM,
Mrs Maria McCormack and
Peter & Bernadette Owen.
How often do we hear ourselves saying; “I just don’t seem to have a minute for myself” and “if only I could have a few moments quiet”!! Jesus’ call seems even more urgent today. While the “come away days” were initially started as an outreach for the sick and their carers, more and more people are seeking a space which offers peace and calm amid the storm, an opportunity to get off the treadmill, and a time to be with God.
Those who have responded to this offer at the Holy Cross Centre have commented: "I was a bit tentative, but I am glad I came, I will come back again”. “I didn’t know what to expect, it was just lovely”. “I can’t believe how good I feel at the end of the day”. “There is something special here”. “ It’s very inclusive, anyone can feel at home, it is a welcoming place”.
